About Honey Bees

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Its all about a tiny busy creature which is in this earth for more than 150 million years. its unbelievable that there are 20,000 bee species in which just seven are real honey bees. There are also other 800 species of bees without Sting which produce honey. The honey of Sting-less bee is sweeter than the honey of Honey bee. The scientific name of honey bee is"Apis mellifera". The honey produced by the Honey bees contains "pinocembrin", an antioxidant which is associated with improved brain functioning.

Honey is actually produced and stored to keep the colony alive in the winter and at the time when they cant fly. The most interesting thing of these wonderful creatures are the procedure of making honey. They visit hundreds and hundreds of flower's, eating the nectar and regurgitate what they have eaten, this will mix with the preservative enzymes form their own honey stomach. once the mixer(honey) is ready then they will fill in the hexagonal cells. then they fan the hive with their wings to evaporate the water from the mixer in the cells. After this work is done 20% of the water wont be there in the mixer. this is done to stop the change of sugar to a form of alcohol(fermenting). The honey comb wont melt as the bees will maintain a constant temperature of 95 degree Fahrenheit. They use their wings to fan and they also collect water instead of honey to make the hive cool on hot days.

The honey bee's are fast enough to cross 6 miles in an hour. with there wings stroke incredibly fast at 200 beats per second. A worker honey bee will produce one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in its life time.
Honey bees are really hard workers.

Oxygen is most vital part of all the living things in the earth. Oxygen was discovered by Carl Wilhelm Scheele in1771. It is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. The word Oxygen comes form Greek 'acid former'. Liquid and solid state of oxygen are pale blue in color. Do you know 90% of nutritional energy we get from Oxygen. Our brain needs Oxygen to work. The basic reason for most of the diseases is deficiency of oxygen that is without Oxygen cells wont function properly inturn which is easy for virus to attack. We have 60 to 70% Concentration of Oxygen in our body on an average, it is said that with this level one can live a healthy life. Diseases that are related to Oxygen deficiency is generally known as hypoxia. It is very important for burning up the body’s toxins. Before 300 years the Oxygen level on earth's atmosphere is 38%. but now it is decreased to 19% which is very low when compared with those years, its all because of the industries, emition of corbondioxide and the main reason is destroying forests. Google’s ultra high-speed broadband connection

Thursday, February 11, 2010

In a blog post on Wednesday morning the world No 1 search engine Google announced that it is going to build and test high-speed fiber broadband connection. It is really a great news to hear that Google is planning make Internet access faster for everyone. With the help of fiber optic broadband network customers can get connected to the Internet, Do you think what is interesting in this? You can enjoy the speed at 100 times faster than the existing broadband connections. This connection will allow the customer to download a HD movie in few minutes and is 1000 times faster than AT&T’s basic DSL offering. They are going to test this one-gigabit-per-second fiber connection with 500,000 users that too in a competitive price. Google has urged FCC to encourage these types of experiments. There is a RFI from Google to communities interested in taking part in this experiment. Another link where residents of U.S and local groups can nominate their communities. In a video Kelly says that Google is working to make the web faster for everyone with the fiber-to-the-home connections and findings from this experiment will be shared to the world. Lets wait for the result of this experiment.

TCS site hacked

Monday, February 8, 2010

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) is one of the largest and leading software concerns. The official website of this software concern has been hacked and posted a banner with a message that the site is for sale. This message has been written in both English and French. It is believed to be a French hacker. Already in the year of 2009 twitter faced the same sort of problem.

The interesting thing is the hacker added a widget “whos.among.us” to display number of people on the site at any given point of time, and also an email Id to contact regarding the sale. People say that it could be a DNS hijack where the nameservers of the site have been changed.

Anyhow now the site has been restored and working fine

Nokia

Saturday, February 6, 2010

It is really interesting to know some information about a world famous mobile company. I came across some information about Nokia from my friends which really interesting.
Do you know when and through which network the first GMS call was made? It was in 1991 at Helsinki by a Nokia-supplied network and the prime minister of Finland Harri Holkeri made the first GSM call and the interesting thing is, he was using a Nokia phone.
Each and every one knows about the “Nokia Tune”. It is a guitar work by Spanish musician Francisco Tárrega in 19th century and the name is "Gran Vals". The same name ("Gran Vals") was present in the Nokia phone. But later in 1998 it was changed to “Nokia Tune”.
Have you ever seen number 4 in any of the Nokia handset model number; you can’t because number 4 is considered as unlucky in Southeast/East Asia.
The tone available on Nokia phones when receiving SMS is Morse code for "SMS" and the "Ascending" SMS tone is Morse code for the slogan "Connecting People”. Again the Standard SMS tone is Morse code for "M".
Eric Spiekermann designed the Nokia corporate font AgfaMonotype Nokia Sans font. Before using the current font, Nokia was using Agfa Rotis Sans Font in its mobile phone user’s guides and also in advertisements.
